Join the ResistDANCE
"We buried our friends in the morning, we protested in the afternoon, and we danced all night. The dance kept us in the fight because it was the dance we were fighting for" - Dan Savage (quote regarding the AIDS crisis)
This is a call to gather and move! A time to say that power should never rest in the hands of a few, and that people matter more than fear, control or profit.
On Saturday, June 6th, we invite folks everywhere to attend or to host their own ResistDANCE public demonstrations.
There is no single format, no gatekeepers and right way to do it. This is an open invitation to move freely and visibly, and show your community that you will not remain silent.
Dance together or alone. Dance in the sunshine. Dance in the rain. Dance to music, drumming, chanting, or in silence. Dance with signs of protest. Dance in costume. Dance with hula hoops. Dance with bubbles. Dance on stilts. Dance with colorful ribbons. Every form of movement is welcome!
You might be a trained dancer or someone who only moves when no one’s watching. You might dance softly, wildly, awkwardly, or with total abandon.
All Bodies, All Ages, All Abilities are WELCOME.
Dance reminds us that our bodies are our own. Dance reconnects us to ourselves and to our communities. Dance brings joy and this matters.
If you believe, that Black Lives Matter, that we are ALL living on stolen land, that what ICE is doing is wrong, that we should have no kings, that everyone should have the right to be who they want to be and love who they want to love. If you believe in kindness over corruption, if you are not willing to trade your humanity for patriotism, then we welcome you to join the ResistDANCE.
